About
Devamurti
Teacher and practitioner of Tantric Yoga and meditation, grounded in Non-dual Shaiva Tantra and the Satyananda and Agama lineages.
In brief
In 2003, motivated by a desire to no longer suffer and to find a sense of meaning and happiness, I was drawn to spirituality. I immersed myself in studying and practising various forms of yoga, meditation and healing modalities.
My practice initially revealed to me the painful truth of how deeply unconscious my life had been until that point, and my emotional wounding and character liabilities became more and more apparent.
Since then I have sat in hundreds of Satsangs and in long meditation retreats, as well as studying spiritual literature, western psychology and a four year course in Mindfulness Based Core Process Psychotherapy.
I felt it was important to establish myself as a dedicated yogi before being ready to teach a complete system of yoga and meditation. So I practised for around ten years and travelled all over the world meeting various teachers and gurus before beginning to teach. I became a Jignasu Sannyasin with Bihar School of Yoga and a qualified Agama yoga teacher and Satyananda yoga practitioner before creating The Heart of Tantra.
My approach to both teaching and self-practice is ever evolving, but my commitment to the unfolding of Truth is constant. The workshops and lessons I teach reflect that dedication, and are suited both to those with some yoga or meditation experience and to those who wish to explore deeper dimensions of reality.
This said, I also work with those who come to yoga as a form of physical or psychological therapy. I myself initially came to yoga out of a feeling of deep dissatisfaction with life, without even a real notion of awakening, enlightenment or liberation.

What students share
I was in search of a sacred practice. I knew that I loved yoga, but I also knew that many teachers don’t honour its sacred roots. Deva is the embodiment of devotion. His love for and knowledge of yoga carries the practice and transmits its sacred gifts. Yoga is no longer simply a physical workout, but a beautiful surrender to love through the body. I leave each class with a deep feeling of joyful bliss, and a renewed sense of physical and emotional wellbeing. Thank you for sharing your passion in this way Deva. Your classes have a depth that I feel extremely grateful for.
