Lagoo Shankaprakshalana

Lagoo Shankaprakshalana is a traditional yogic cleansing practice, sometimes used to support digestive function.

Often used in relation to

  • Constipation
  • Flatulence
  • Acidity
  • Indigestion

The practice may also support

  • The urinary system
  • Reducing the formation of kidney stones

Contraindications

  • Consult a medical professional before practising if you have any major illness.
  • Pregnant women should not carry out this practice.

You will need

  • 2 to 3 tsp salt
  • 2 litres cold water
  • Half a litre of boiling water
  • A mug
  • A pint glass or large cup
  • A 2 litre jug

Order of asana

  • Tadasana
  • Tiryaka Tadasana
  • Kati Chakrasana
  • Tiryaka Bhujangasana
  • Udarakarshanasana

Frequency of practice

This can be practiced up to once a week, or daily if working with constipation.
